The largest scheme of its kind in the UK, CHAS (Contractors Health & Safety) was originally aimed at local authorities, but now covers other areas including education authorities, charities, NHS trusts, emergency services and housing associations.
CHAS also covers large private companies working in construction, utilities, manufacturing, transport and distribution. If your business tenders for work or supply services to these sectors, or intends to do so in the future, CHAS accreditation is vital.
Because CHAS is part of the Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP), CHAS accreditation is recognised by other SSIP members, making multiple accreditations unnecessary.
